Optimizing Image Files
Every time you add a feature to an image in iWeb like a drop shadow, frame etc, you increase the file size. Add a few of these to your website and it will download at snail’s pace.
To stop iWeb interfering with your images, turn off “Optimize images on import” in iWeb/Preferences.
I use two applications for adjusting image sizes before loading them onto a page.
EasyCrop will crop the image, add a border, reduce the file size and change file formats.
ImageWell is really useful for reducing the image size using a slider and gives you a visual indication of the effect on download speed. You can add captions, watermarks and a whole lot more.
